Christenson Electric Remodel

Shortly after Ohm’s acquisition by Portland’s landmark electrical contractor, Christenson Electric Inc, we were thrilled to be invited to participate in Christenson’s comprehensive remodel of their headquarters located in outer NE Portland. Ohm was tasked with designing and implementing custom audio/video solutions in several brand new locations in the remodeled office. The Ohm team really embraced this opportunity to show off our audio/video expertise to our new parent company.

The common spaces have a background music system and informational displays throughout that communicate internal announcements and information, as well as displays about Christenson’s history and project highlights. The centrally located breakroom area opens out onto a brand new courtyard, which is dotted with discrete landscape speakers so the background music can extend to outdoor gatherings in the warmer months. A small, soundproof call room off the break room is outfitted with a mid-sized video display and Barco Clickshare to provide a temporary workspace where technicians can catch up on project paperwork in peace. Custom motorized Crestron shades are located along the windows in the open office spaces so workers can lower and raise them as needed throughout the day.

A series of smaller conference rooms were each carefully designed to meet the distinct needs of Christenson staff: from bid reviews, to presenting proposals to customers, to internal meetings, these rooms can do it all. Each room features a professional video display (in one case a row of three displays, perfect for reviewing markups), recessed Sonance speakers, Stem table microphones, and Huddly conference room cameras. Each room is controllable through a custom-programmed 7” Crestron wall controller.

The chef d’oeuvre of the remodel is the showcase boardroom, which has a floor to ceiling glass wall looking out onto the courtyard, and a custom-fabricated illuminated conference room table. For this room, the videoconferencing and presentation systems consist of a 98” Samsung display, Biamp beamtracking ceiling microphones, and a Barco Clickshare.

Finally, there is the 50+ seat training room. This large space has a 7,000 lumen Epson projector that projects onto a motorized screen recessed into the ceiling. For large meetings, a 65” TV acts as a secondary display for the back half of the room, mirroring what is being projected. Presenters can choose between a local PC, Barco Clickshare, or any of 3 HDMI wall plates located throughout the room for bring-your-own-device capability. Shure array microphones blend in seamlessly with the ceiling to provide uniform coverage, and Aver PTZ cameras provide videoconferencing capability. This room is also outfitted with motorized Crestron shades, and the whole integrated system is controlled through a Crestron 7” touchpad.
